Dorsey
Yearley, Executive Director
of EDCO has been a special educator
and special educaztion administrator
for 32 years, including 14 years as
the Director of Student Services for
the Wellesley Public Schools. She
has supported the training of special
education administrators in a variety
of degree and licensure programs.
Gerry Leader,
Professor Emeritus, Co-Director ELI,
was a faculty member of Boston University
for 25 years and has over 20 years
of experience with preparing educational
leaders.
David Castelline,
Ed.D., Principal of Newton’s
Underwood Elementary School, Faculty
Instructor, Practicum Supervisor,
has 17 years of experience as a principal,
and also he has served as a science
department chairman and classroom
teacher. He is an active soccer coach
and was elected National Girl's Soccer
Coach of the Year in 1987.
Ruth Chapman,
Faculty Instructor for Standards-Based
Curriculum, Practicum Supervisor,
She has had 18 years of experience
as a principal, 15 of which were in
Newton's A.E. Angier School, and also
served as a mathematics curriculum
specialist and a classroom teacher.
At the request of Newton's Superintendent
of Schools, she has been appointed
for a year as the Interim Principal
at Newton's Franklin Elementary School.
Natalie
Cohen, Faculty Instructor,
Practicum Supervisor, is the Assistant
Principal of Weston High School and
a graduate of the ELI Preparation
Program. She has over 30 years experience
as an English teacher and department
chair, as well as 6 years experience
as a store manager at Crate &
Barrel.
Robert
Desaulniers, Faculty Instructor,
Practicum Supervisor, formally held
principalships at Weston and Littleton
High Schools, has had over 35 years
of experience as a teacher, guidance
counselor, and educational administrator.
Kim
Marshall, Faculty Instructor
for Performance Appraisal and Supervision,
has 15 years of experience as an urban
principal. He is currently a leadership
coach and nationally recognized educational
author. For example, his, “Recovering
from H.S.P.S. (Hyperactive Superficial
Principal Syndrome): A Progress Report,”
Phi Delta Kappan, May 2003,
is now a classic in the educational
leadership literature.
Louise
Lipsitz, Faculty Instructor,
Practicum Supervisor, is currently
in her ninth year as the Principal
of Westwood’s Deerfield Elementary
School. Previously, she was a classroom
teacher and special educator for PreK-a2
for 23 years.
William
Lupini, Ed.D., Faculty Instructor
for Educational Leadership and the
Law, is Superintendent of Schools
in Brookline and former Superintendent
of Schools in Beverly, MA and Kutztown,
PA, as well as a director of curriculum
and instrucation adn assistant high
school principal.

Practicum
A nine-month, September 2008 through
June 2009, supervised practicum at
the candidate’s school or another
school site more appropriate to the
candidate’s career aspirations.
ELI’s Practicum Supervisor,
in collaboration with the Principal
or Director/Supervisor at the school
site, assume the mentoring role during
the candidate’s practicum.
Practicum
Seminar
A nine-month, September 2008 through
June 2009, bi-weekly seminar meeting
Wednesdays 4-7:30 PM, except for public
and school holidays, is a substantively-based
and reflective seminar accompanying
the practicum. Topics include, but
are not limited to: Major Project
Responsibility; Shared Leadership
through Delegated Responsibility and
Accountability; Equity and High Expectations;
Alignment of Curriculum, Instruction,
and Assessment; Readiness for Continual
Student Performance Improvement; Recruitment,
Mentoring, Supervision, and Evaluation;
Special Education and Student Support
Services; Parental and Community Relationships;
School Improvement Planning; Leadership,
etc.
At the completion of the practicum
seminar, candidates synthesize their
learnings and present them to their
Cohort peers, ELI faculty, and invited
practitioners. The presentation anticipates
candidates presenting their professional
portfolio to prospective employers.
Graduate
Credit
Currently, 15 graduate credits from
Endicott College are available for
candidates who successfully complete
the coursework and Practicum seminar.
An additional 5 graduate credits will
be available in academic year 2008-09
with no additional cost of the program
currently stated on page 8. An additional
5 credits, beyond the 20, will also
be available in academic year 2008-09
for the added cost of $500. The credits
can be applied toward Masters, CAGS,
or Doctoral degrees at other schools
of higher education.
