AT BROOKLINE HIGH SCHOOL
A Program Serving Students
with Asperger's Syndrome and Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities
Mission
The mission of the EDCO-Manville Partners
Program is to provide comprehensive academic instruction
as well as intensive social and life skills instruction
to academically capable adolescents diagnosed with Asperger's
Syndrome, or Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities.
Students
High school aged students
Academically capable
Lack the social and behavioral skills
needed to succeed without support in a busy public high
school setting
The EDCO Manville Partners Program
is not designed to serve students with a recent history
of severe acting out behavior
Staff
Full-time special education teachers
with expertise in Mathematics, Science, English and
History teach the core academic curriculum.
A full-time School Adjustment Counselor
leads a weekly life skills group and individual therapy
sessions.
A part-time Speech and Language Pathologist
conducts a social skills pragmatic group.
A part-time Transition Coordinator
assists students in their transition into adulthood
by facilitating employment training and secondary education
opportunities.
Administration
Organized in 1969, EDCO Collaborative
serves 20 suburban school districts in the greater Boston
area, and provides an array of special education and
related services. EDCO is responsible for administering,
staffing and managing the EDCO-Manville Partners Program.
Since 1957, the Manville School has
been recognized as a leader among special needs day
schools in the greater Boston area. The Manville School
provides clinical support, curriculum consultation,
and staff training to the Partners Program.
Historic Brookline High School houses
the program and provides mainstreaming opportunities
for students.
