Program
for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides
comprehensive educational programming
to 50 deaf and hard of hearing students
from approximately 30 Greater Boston
communities in grades 6-12.
North
Crossing Program provides an
alternative High School experience
in Watertown High School for two classrooms
of students from member school districts
whose emotional and/or behavioral
needs require a separate placement.
Youth
Alternative Program provides
a full academic program for 100 Boston
students, counseling and related support
services, and part-time employment
to school dropouts, non-attenders,
court referred, and other students-at-risk.

EDCO-Manville
Partners Program provides
comprehensive academic instruction
as well as intensive social and life
skills instruction to academically
capable adolescents diagnosed with
Asperger’s Syndrome or Non-Verbal
Learning Disabilities. Click here

Educational
Services for Institutionalized Students
(ESIS) Programs provide education
and related services to adolescents
residing at state-operated or state-funded
institutions across the Commonwealth.
These programs are provided in cooperation
with several state agencies including
the Massachusetts Departments of Education,
Youth Services, Mental Health, Public
Health, and the County Houses of Correction.
EDCO provides all the special education
for 1,500 students in the programs
with a staff of 200 teachers. These
students require medical support,
mental health services, therapeutic
support in addition to the education
that is provided by EDCO. EDCO works
in concert with agencies that provide
these services.
Surrogate
Parent Program is a statewide
initiative that serves 10,000 students
whose parents are unavailable to participate
in the educational decision making
process. The program was established
in response to federal and state special
education laws requiring parental
participation in developing and monitoring
individualized education plans for
students with special education needs.
Migrant
Education Program is an EDCO
operated, state administered federally
funded program that serves approximately
2,000 children of migratory agricultural
workers and fishermen each year. Twelve
EDCO staff members visit local farms
and processing plants to identify
and recruit eligible migratory children.
Advocacy4 and outreach, interpreting,
ESL (English as a Second Language),
family literacy, parent empowerment
workshops and preschool services are
provided. Also, a six-week summer
program for children pre-school through
12th grade provides extended academic
learning in language arts and math,
health screenings and nutritional
meals in three locations throughout

Habilitative
Services Program provides comprehensive
therapeutic services in occupational
and physical therapy, adapted physical
education, orientation and mobility
and massage therapy to 330 consumers
living at the Wrentham Developmental
Center and to a limited number of
consumers living in community programs
located throughout southeastern Massachusetts.
The goals of the Habilitative Services
Project seek to enhance the quality
of life and care for residents, maximize
their level of skill development,
maintain their functional ability
in varied environmental settings,
promote wellness, assist in the prevention
of further dysfunction which interferes
with total development and meet and
exceed all requirements of Federal
Title XIX care regulations for residents
of Wrentham Developmental Center.
Archdiocese
of Boston Program serves students
in 50 schools of the Archdiocese of
Boston. Activities include federally
funded Title
1 Family Literacy Program and
Computer Assisted Instruction Program,
Title 2D, Title 3, and Title 6 programs,
and an Eisenhower Math-Science Grant
Program. |
