workshop will be held in a Mac lab but participants are welcome to bring their
own laptop, Mac or PC
Course credit option: One graduate credit is available from Framingham State for a
fee of $75.
Description: Digital images are increasingly
becoming an easy and useful classroom tool. By combining the power of digital
images with interactive web-based tools (Web 2.0) teachers can strengthen their
studentsŐ skills in critical thinking, writing, reflection, and interactive
learning. This workshop will provide participants with guided opportunities to
gather better digital images from the web and improve their own digital photographs.
Teachers will explore, create, and utilize digital images in a blog and in
"Flickr". They will learn how to successfully use digital images to
promote learning and reflection in their classrooms.
About the instructor: Matthew
Durant is first and foremost a teacher.
For the past 18 years, Matt has taught students in kindergarten, first,
third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades.
He has also taught computers to students in kindergarten through eighth
grade. As a presenter, Matt has had many opportunities over the past ten years
to teach others how to integrate technology. He has worked with such notable
organizations as the MA Department of Education, WGBH, TERC, Mass Networks, and
MassCue. This course is a product
of MattŐs knowledge of and passion for technology integration, constructivist
learning, and authentic assessment.
Skills/equipment needed: Teachers
will need a basic familiarity with digital cameras and computers.
